Beware the Betrayal: The Sparrow and the Crow

Beware the Betrayal: The Sparrow and the Crow

Once upon a time, in a forest, there lived two close friends, Sparrow and Crow. Crow's house was built with cow dung, while Sparrow's house was made of twigs and candle wax. Sparrow lived happily with her three kids, while Crow lived alone in his cow dung house.

One rainy day, a heavy downpour flooded the forest. Crow's cow dung house melted away in the rain, leaving him drenched and shivering. Seeing Crow's plight, Sparrow invited him into her warm nest to seek shelter.

Sparrow trusted Crow completely and offered him a place to sleep beside her kids' room. During the night, Sparrow heard strange sounds like "katum katum" coming from Crow's direction. Concerned, she asked Crow what he was eating. Crow reassured her that he was eating lentils, carrots, and groundnuts that he had brought from his house.

However, the next morning, Sparrow was shocked to find her kids missing. After searching frantically, she realized that the sounds she heard at night were Crow devouring her kids one by one. Heartbroken and angry, Sparrow realized the painful lesson that blindly trusting others can lead to betrayal and hurt.

From that day on, Sparrow vowed never to trust anyone blindly again, teaching children the importance of being cautious and discerning in whom they place their trust.

Ajji's Stories Tales from Grandma's Table: Nourishing Imaginations One Story at a Time The Natural Instinct: Understanding Why Hens Dig and Search for Food Once upon a time, in a land where hens and eagles coexisted, they formed an unlikely friendship. They shared a mutual respect and looked out for one another. However, a time of war befell the land, and the eagles had to leave their nests to defend their territory. They constructed sturdy cages and securely locked them with keys, ensuring the young eagles ...

Kumkum and the Divine Wrath

This is a true story experienced by one of my cousins — something beyond explanation, something divine. My cousin owns a building with around six houses rented out to different families. Some time ago, a couple moved into one of these houses. Over the course of six months, they became quite close to my cousin’s family. Eventually, the couple had a baby, and everyone was happy for them. However, a few months after the birth, the wife began acting strangely. She would speak in an unusual manner, and her behavior started scaring her husband. Worried, he called my cousin for help. When my cousin arrived, she was shocked by what she saw — the woman's eyes were wide open, almost unnaturally, and she was saying things like, “Come and apply kumkum to me.” She had already put some kumkum on her forehead herself. At that moment, they realized something divine had taken over her — it seemed like a god had entered her body. She turned to her husband and said, “You promised me something but did...

Haunted Bicycle Ride

In the dimly lit room, I gathered my friends around, eager to share a chilling tale passed down from my grandfather. Before I recount his bone-chilling encounter, allow me to paint a picture of my dear grandfather—a joyful and talented man, skilled in music, capable of playing the flute, tabla, piano, and more. He was a maestro in dance, mastering the art of both Kathak and Bharatanatyam. Yet, amidst all his passions, one thing held a peculiar grip on his heart—fish. He couldn't bear a day without this aquatic delicacy; it had to accompany every meal, or he'd refuse to eat anything else. This eerie tale harks back some forty years, to a time when the world was a vastly different place. My grandfather resided in a quaint little village known as Kumta. In those days, the road leading to his home was a haunting path. No streetlights dared to pierce the darkness, and dense forests loomed ominously on either side. But things have changed drastically since then, as you'll soon se...
